I got an email today (at 2 a.m. actually) saying my toolkit had been updated. Which is a little odd because it's a Saturday today. Of course I logged in as quickly as humanly possible and found out I have been legally cleared. Yay! I was hoping for medical clearance, but I'll take what I can get.
So, yesterday, after screaming at my fax machine, I managed to fax in my supplementary medical paperwork. It was around 2 p.m. in Washington D.C. by the time it got to them, so I'm sure it hasn't even been looked at. My wishful thinking is hoping that I will hear something about my medical paperwork next week, but my predictions have been wrong 99.9% of the time through this process. I'm getting really good at being patient, and it feels amazing to have 2 check marks on my toolkit. Now I'm just waiting on the biggest hurdle, medical clearance.

ReplyDeleteAs I search the PC blogs seeking some vicarious positive news about the seemingly endless waiting process, I find more PC irony - - - You have been hoping for medical clearance and receive removal of a legal hold; I have been hoping for removal of a legal hold and received a call from a nurse reviewer saying my medical clearance is coming.

Congratulations on your impending medical clearance! This is a very long and stressful process, and I'm so thankful for all of the resources available online. I think I would have gone crazy by now without blogs, peacecorpswiki, and the yahoo group peacecorps2. Hopefully you will have legal clearance soon, and an invitation makes its way to you.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! @Lew-I'm still waiting on both medical and legal clearance but I expect my medial to be cleared within a week or so (they can't possibly pick on any other minor detail!) but when I called to ask for an explanation on the 9 month legal hold, I was told that they wouldn't even look at my legal until I cleared medical. Which doesn't make sense considering other people are experiencing the exact opposite. Sigh. I guess there is no exact science to it.
ReplyDeleteJessica, I had the exact same issue. My legal was on hold basically since I sent it in in April and I called to ask about it a month or so ago. They also told me that they won't clear it until I clear medical. However, they obviously cleared it before medical after sending me a form to fill out about an underage drinking charge from several years ago. No biggie and I had legal clearance the next day. I'm sure it will all happen for you soon! Mine seemed to happen all at once.
