Emailed the Placement Office
So, I caved today and emailed the placement office to find out who my placement officer is and if I can contact her. I got a reply saying that I should wait until my placement officer contacts me directly, but that I can email the placement assistant with any questions. Apparently my placement officer is out of the office for the holiday (Hanukkah?) and will be back in the office sometime next week. This is good and bad news. I was hoping to hear something this week, but at least now I know when I should be expecting a call. Now I'm hoping for the end of next week, which will actually give me time to focus on finals which are looming.

Hello. I too am a peace corps applicant and it sounds like we are at the exact same stage as far as placement. I e-mailed my updated resume etc to the placement assistant in early november and here i am, a month later, having heard nothing! I feel a lot better after reading your posts - in fact, I should thank you because I was about to call the placement office this afternoon but stopped myself. I didn't make the call but still feel like I've had my questions answered. Thanks! Which region/program were you nominated in?
ReplyDeletei am too. and i emailed and she emailed me a very nice letter back saying i should expect ot hear by next week. and to my surprise, my placement office called TODAY and i had my final interview and said my invitation would be in the mail as of monday! whoo hoo!! good luck on yours!
ReplyDeleteLisa- I'm nominated for sub-saharan Africa, early February for secondary science education. It's nice to know other people are in the same place as me. Maybe we have the same placement officer. What is your nomination?
ReplyDeleteTaylor- Congratulations on your invitation! Do you have a blog? I'd love to know where you get invited to. The email I got today said next week as well, so I'm hoping I hear from soon!
Same situation for me as well. I sent in an updated resume mid-Oct and am still waiting to hear from my PO. Here's hoping for next week being a big week for all of us!
ReplyDeletehaha hmm, maybe not. I was scheduled for a feb/march departure to central/south america in secondary English education. However, since my interview I have gained a fair amount of experience in youth development, so who knows what will happen? Regardless, I just feel better knowing that I'm not the only one who is suuuuper anxious. Cruel as it may be, misery loves company so thanks for riding in the same boat with me! Best of luck to you!
